The fact that you are able to elicit such an emotional response from somebody should be proof enough that your words matter Tim. Some people like reading about others so they can resonate, some people don’t because they hate when people talk about themselves.

You are never going to be able to please everyone.

Keep writing how you want to write. Experiment, work on different ideas, and just enjoy the fact that what you have to say is giving others the confidence to speak up as well.
