Jessica, it is so great that you had a professor bad ass. It is people like this, a coach, a mentor, a friend, who tells us exactly how it is, because they have our best interests in mind. It’s somebody who doesn’t necessarily sugar coat things and doesn’t give you the, “everything is great, but…” routine that ends up confusing you more than helping you. Not everyone can play this role, but everyone certainly needs one. It’ll take you outside of your comfort zone, and it may not afford you with the instant gratification you are looking for, but it’ll certainly be more beneficial in the long term.
